If your long term medication is on a repeat prescription basis you can order in a variety of ways:
We are a dispensing practice and provided you live more than one mile from the nearest pharmacy we will dispense to you. Four weeks supply of medicines are prescribed at one time.
After you have been seen by a clinician 90% of prescriptions will be issued to you at the time of your appointment; however some occasions may require you to either come back and collect your script or we will fax it to the Pharmacy of your choice.
Repeat medication is usually authorised for six months unless otherwise specified; generally you will be asked to speak to, or be seen by a clinician at the end of this period.
Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions. If you enquire with a receptionist and provide them with the details of your medical review they will direct you to the relevant clinician.
Our highly trained Practice Nurses oversee all routine checkups.
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs). The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
The surgery can provide you with both private and travel prescriptions. Most private prescriptions will be dispensed immediately from the surgery.
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 15 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website#
Please allow 48 hours, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays, for your request to be processed. Any problems please telephone the surgery.
